512MB PC133 CL3 modules

These are some of the 512MB PC133 CAS latency 3 (CL3) modules that I have verified as working in the IBM T23 laptop. Modules that are rated at CL2 should also work.

Micron MT16LSDF6464HG-133B2:
Micron MT16LSDF6464HG-133B2This module is also available in a "-133C2" version which will also work in the T23. I believe that as long as it ends in "6464HG-133xx", there should be no problems. A typical 16-chip version that is one of my favorites when prowling eBay.

Mosel Vitelic V436664Z24VBSG-75:

Samsung M464S6453CKS-L7A:
Samsung M464S6453CKS-L7AThis module is the first 8-chip solution that I have used. It works perfectly fine in the T23. There should be no "low-density" vs. "high-density" issues at the 512MB level since the refresh specifications between the 8-chip and 16-chip modules are the same.

A note about memory testing...

I would recommend that any newly acquired module first be put through some rigorous testing before using it in a system. One of the better programs to use for memory testing is memtest86+, an open-source (i.e., free) utility program that exercises the memory by using several test sequences. Available in both a floppy disk or burnable CDROM format, you simply create the boot media, insert it into the computer and boot the system. It starts running automatically and will report any failures right on the screen. I generally run three complete passes on each module that I get. This allows for enough time for the memory chips to reach their "maximum" operating temperature. A 1.2Ghz T23 should be able to complete one pass of the memory diagnostics on the 512MB module in about 45 minutes.
